Aleš Weiser is a manager at Mars Chocolate UK Ltd. and also serves as president of the Bakala Scholars. He left home at the age of 18 to spend a year at a secondary school in the UK, from which he eventually graduated with A-levels and continued with a BA degree in Contemporary European studies and Chinese studies at the University of Nottingham. As a student, he lived in Canada, China and France and gained formative work experience as a logistics specialist at the Czech Pavilion at the EXPO 2010 in Shanghai and as an intern at the Czech Embassy in Malaysia. He gained his MA in East Asian studies at Stanford University in California between 2012 and 2014. His studies focused primarily on the role of China in global politics and US foreign policy towards Northeast Asia.
