Michal Kovács, a social innovator and entrepreneur, currently leads SPEARhydro, a clean-tech startup specializing in floating power plants. Throughout his career spanning business, public, and NGO sectors, Michal has consistently focused on nurturing talent and fostering innovations. He founded and led numerous organizations dedicated to empowering young leaders across 23 CEE countries. As the Shadow Minister of Education for the ZA ĽUDÍ party in Slovakia, Michal closely collaborated with former President Andrej Kiska. In his corporate tenure as a member of the Leadership Team at Swiss Re Slovakia, he played a pivotal role in the company’s innovative talent acquisition approach. Before that, Michal spearheaded initiatives such as reconnecting with the Slovak diaspora and fostering collaboration between business and academia. His contributions have earned recognition in both the European Parliament and the OECD, acknowledging them as international best practices. Michal holds a PhD. and an MSc. in International Relations.
