Miřenka Čechová is a director, choreographer, performer and scholar. She is the co-founder and director of two theater companies: Spitfire Company and Tantehorse. She studied ballet at the Dance Conservatory in Prague and later obtained two MA degrees in Theater and Nonverbal Theater. She holds a PhD in Physical Theater Direction from the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague, where she also served as a professor. She has received many international awards, including The Best of Contemporary Dance by the Washington Post (2012) and The Best of Overseas Production in South Africa (2013). She has directed more than 25 productions in Washington DC, New York and Prague. Ms Cechova was a Fulbright scholar teaching theater in many American universities, in 2016 she spoke at TEDx Prague Women as Mckenzie Tomski, her artistic alter ego. Ms Cechova served as a program director at the Czech Center New York.
