Milan Vašina to take helm of The Aspen Institute Central Europe
PRAGUE (31 March 2020) – Milan Vašina (51) is to become the new Executive Director of The Aspen Institute Central Europe (AICE). He will join the Institute’s management team in May and, once familiarised with the requisite demands of the top role, he will succeed Jiří Schneider, who will remain on the team until the end of June. Both men will dedicate several weeks to the preparation of the Institute’s autumn agenda and to discussions with key expert partners and sponsors of AICE.
Milan Vašina arrives at AICE with vast management experience to his name. A native of Přerov, he has spent most of his professional career in telecommunications. In that field, he began as head of marketing communication at Radiomobil, the company that brought mobile operator Paegas to the Czech market. He remained loyal to his employer for more than two decades, as Marketing Director and later as CEO of the Slovak mobile operation of T-Mobile, or Slovak Telekom. From 2011, Milan Vašina served as CEO of T-Mobile Czech Republic. Since leaving top management in 2018, he has worked as a consultant and coach.

His extensive experience accumulated across international corporations will be of great value in his new role at the helm of the Institute,” says Ivan Hodáč, President of the Institute’s Board of Directors. “We expect Milan to take up the mantle from his predecessor and develop activities of the Institute in its role as a prominent platform for practical discussion on the social and economic direction of the region – something that is becoming more topical than ever before,” adds Hodáč.
“I have been following the Institute and its work for quite some time. I am delighted that I can now make my own contribution to its work. Given both the nature and previous achievements of the Aspen Institute, it is well placed to become a platform for knowledge-driven, apolitical debate on the best way of addressing the damage wrought on the countries of our region by the ongoing global battle with the new coronavirus,” says Milan Vašina. “Jiří Schneider has done an excellent job leading the Institute, setting a high bar for me and the team going forward,” he adds.
Milan Vašina is a graduate of the Faculty of Business and Economics of Mendel University in Brno. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Dobrý anděl (Good Angel) foundation and a member of the Science Council at the Faculty of Business Administration of the University of Economics in Prague (VŠE).
