Madeleine K. Albright announcement
We are very saddened by the news we received today, that Madeleine K. Albright, the 64th U.S. Secretary of State and one of the founders of the Aspen Institute Central Europe passed away.
Not only Aspen Institute but the whole world has lost a true role model for whom democracy, freedom of speech, and human rights came absolutely first.
Madeleine Albright was proud of her Czech roots and she never forgot where she came from. Madeleine Albright stayed active till the very end and in the light of today’s announcement, we cannot be more honored that it was Madeleine Albright, who delivered the keynote speech at our last Annual conference in December 2021.
“I am shocked and heartbroken with the news about the passing away of my very close friend. I feel honored and privileged that Madeleine was part of my life and it is very hard for me to accept that I will not have another chance to exchange views on many different important topics with such a wise and inspiring woman.”, said Ivan Hodáč, founder and chairman of the supervisory board of the Aspen Institute CE.
We at Aspen Institute CE will do our best to keep her legacy alive. Our deepest condolences go to the whole family.
