Aspen CE Madeleine K. Albright Leadership Award Laureates for 2024

Just a few days before the eve of Struggle for Freedom Day, we announced the Aspen CE Madeleine K. Albright Leadership Awards, honoring the achievements, inspiration, and positive societal impact of young leaders. The ceremony was opened and appreciated by President of the Czech Republic, Petr Pavel, and we are honored that the awards were presented by Katie Albright, daughter of Madeleine K. Albright, who also shared an inspiring keynote on values-based leadership in respect of her mother’s legacy. We also thank Aspen Institute CE representatives Pavel Řehák, Ivan Hodáč a Jakub Landovský guided us through the evening.

With gratitude for their contributions to society, we introduce the 2024 laureates:

  • Kasia Świętochowska, a creative producer and cellist, is dedicated to making art, science, and innovation accessible to all. As co-founder of SPLOT Institute, she leads initiatives blending culture, technology, and entrepreneurship, including projects for Ukrainian refugees and creative explorations of humanity’s future in space.
  • Marek Janiga, a humanitarian worker and student senator at Comenius University in Bratislava, founded the NGO United for Help in response to the crisis in Ukraine. His work spans coordinating refugee aid, leading educational programs, and facilitating international humanitarian projects.

The award offers long-term support for both award-winning personalities, inclusion in the Institute’s global network, and the opportunity to participate in international activities and events organized by Aspen Institute CE partners. Through the Aspen CE Madeleine K. Albright Leadership Award, we seek to honor lesser-known stories of leadership and courage that deserve recognition, particularly in these challenging times.

“It took me quite a long time to develop a voice, and now that I have it, I am not going to be silent,” said Madeleine K. Albright. We hope the same for the Award laureates.
