FutureEdu 2024: Leadership for the Future of Education

The highly anticipated FutureEdu 2024 international conference took place on September 17, 2024, at Opero, attracting a full house with many additional attendees joining via online streaming. The event showcased innovative British and Czech perspectives on leadership development in education, with Aspen Institute Central Europe proud to have been a content partner for this prestigious gathering.

One of the key highlights was the panel discussion Leadership of the Future in (In)Formal Education, where Jakub Landovský, Executive Director of Aspen Institute Central Europe, explored the critical role of values in leadership. He emphasized the importance of creating safe environments where diverse opinions and ideas can be shared, fostering open dialogue that leads to consensus on democratic foundations.

The conference also delved into the evolving role of leaders as value-based authorities, particularly in an era where AI is taking over many procedural tasks. Discussions highlighted how families can contribute to skill-building by challenging individuals to step outside their comfort zones. This vital conversation featured contributions from notable speakers, including Jiří Nantl (Ministry of Education, Prague, Czech Republic), Stanislav Pavlín (Fostra Group), Michal Uhl (Czech National Agency for International Education and Research), and Aleš Pokorný (PwC), among many others.

Special thanks go to the members of the Aspen Alumni community for contributing to the event’s success. The Foxinoproject was introduced by Aneta Klímová, followed by an insightful AI-focused workshop led by Daria Hvizdalová (AI EduLab, SFÉRA Pardubice). We also extend our gratitude to moderators Markéta Beková and Michael Rozsypal, who guided us through the whole day’s agenda.
