Jakub Landovský Joins Aspen Institute CE as New Executive Director
After a fulfilling mission as Czech Ambassador to NATO, we welcome Jakub Landovský to his new role as Executive Director of the Aspen Institute Central Europe. Jakub is a lecturer in international relations and international law at the Faculty of Social Sciences of Charles University, has experience in the private sector, and has worked for Forum 2000 and the United Nations. In the last ten years, he served as Deputy Minister and headed the Defence Policy and Strategy Section of the Czech Ministry of Defence. He has been the recipient of a Fulbright Scholarship in the past, and is a committed advocate of the values on which the Aspen Institute was founded.
“Over the last 12 years, Aspen Institute CE has been working with young people from all over Central Europe through its leadership programs and, as a multidisciplinary platform, has been connecting people from different sectors based on shared values. I’m happy and committed to continuing this mission. I believe that as a truly independent and non-partisan platform, we can offer a safe space for open dialogue to share different perspectives and points of view,” says Jakub Landovský.
Jakub Landovský’s background and experiences are aligned with the long-term program priorities of the Aspen Institute Central Europe. His agenda for the upcoming days is filled with partner meetings as well as active involvement in the Aspen Young Leaders Program and the Aspen Annual Conference. The Aspen Annual Conference 2024 will be held on November 14 at the Prague Crossroads Centre, and the main theme is “Values and Ethics in the Context of New Technologies.” The program will traditionally be based on newly published expert reports on diverse topics such as values-based leadership in the context of new technologies, defense innovation, education, digitalization of small businesses, and more. On the day of the Annual Conference 2024, The Aspen CE Madeleine K. Albright Leadership Award will be presented, which is bestowed annually by the Aspen Institute CE to young emerging professionals with outstanding achievements.
Under Jakub Landovský’s leadership, the organization plans to extend its team and activities within the Central European countries, especially in Poland, where Aspen Institute Central Europe opened a new office in Warsaw in 2023. Aspen Institute’s offices in Central Europe share long-term program priorities of values-based leadership, education, transatlantic and EU activities, technology and innovation, and quality of governance – effectiveness of civil service.
“I was blessed with very interesting jobs, and I feel the obligation to give back a little bit of what I received to young people, business leaders, and others across the Aspen family and beyond,” adds Jakub Landovský about his new career and life phase.
