OPEN UP! 2016

June 9-10, 2016, Pilsen, Czech Republic

The third edition of the OPEN UP! conference, organized in cooperation with Pilsen 2015, focused mainly on the evaluation and sustainability of cultural projects and on the role of culture in cities' development.

Aspen Institute Prague hosted a panel titled Culture as a Driver of Urban Development. We invited three expert guests – Tina Lierheimer (Goethe-Institut), Jaanus Mutli (Tallinn City Enterprise Department), and Artur Celiński (Magazyn Miasta; DNA Miasta) – to share their experience and speak about how cultural projects such as the European Capital of Culture can help reshape and improve the life in cities, how to evaluate such projects, and how to include culture into strategic planning. The debate was chaired by Deputy Executive Director of Aspen Institute Prague Maria Staszkiewicz.
