John has extensive experience in consultancy, having been a Partner at GPlus Europe, a prominent Brussels communications consultancy, for eight years, during which he originated and developed communications strategies and projects for a wide variety of clients. Prior to this, John founded ECO-European Communications, an editorial and communications consultancy. In this position, John’s most important activity was as external communications advisor to the European Commission on the launch of the euro. John was also a journalist for the Financial Times for almost twenty years, and held the position of Brussels bureau chief, Foreign News Editor and Rome Correspondent before becoming Deputy Editor of L’Indipendente of Milan. John also writes a fortnightly column in the European Voice, a newspaper for which he developed the concept with its owner, The Economist. Recently, John held the position of Chief Strategy Coordinator and Acting Director of Studies at the European Policy Centre, to which he has been a Senior Advisor since 1997.
