Máté joined the Political Section of the Embassy of the United States in Budapest in 2005, and has been serving as the Embassy’s Senior Political Specialist since 2012. Prior to his work at the Embassy, Máté was a fellow of the Hungarian-American Enterprise Scholarship Fund, completing an extended internship at the Atlantic Council of the United States in Washington, D.C. Máté has a master’s degree in American Studies from Budapest’s ELTE University and a degree in Foreign Relations from the Corvinus University of Budapest. He has also studied at Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut. He enjoys traveling and long-distance running, and has over fifteen years of experience as a freelance translator.
