Ruth Girardet

Ruth Girardet has over twenty years of professional experience in corporate responsibility and corporate ethics. She has a wide knowledge of the charity and corporate sectors, and
how they can work together to address issues of social justice. Ruth is currently a non-executive Director of the Open University, the UK’s largest open access university with 175,000 students. She is also training as an Executive Coach with the Tavistock Clinic, which uses a systems psychodynamic approach to help senior leaders understand and address the personal and organizational dynamics that impact on their effectiveness.
Before this, Ruth was CEO of the social justice charity Just for Kids Law (2016–2018), and Group Corporate Responsibility Director at Tesco Plc (2007–2013), the world’s third largest retailer. Her brief included delivering the company’s Climate Change commitments globally, running the Charitable Trust, and formulating company strategy across a wide range of governance and ethical issues, including animal welfare, labor standards and supply chain sustainability and ethics. Ruth grew up in Berlin and studied Philosophy, Politics, and Economics at Oxford University. In addition, she holds a degree in Social Sciences from Humboldt University Berlin. She lives in London with her husband and three children.
